Old Town Buffet 300 Hwy. 18
A 23 year old female New York resident was injured when she attempted to prevent a man from stealing the tip jar from the Old Town Buffet, 300 Route 18. The initial investigation determined that an unknown male fled the Old Town Buffet with the tip jar. The victim chased after the suspect and struggled with him over the jar as the suspect entered a vehicle described as a brown 4 door Oldsmobile. The suspect was able to get in the car and the victim was apparently struck by the vehicle as it fled the scene. A second male was seen driving the vehicle. There was no further description of the suspects available and the vehicle fled in an unknown direction. The incident had been witnessed by several individuals in the area. There is no further information available regarding the injuries to the victim, but it is believed that she was struck with the door of the vehicle as it fled. Police were unable to question her because of her injuries. Police are requesting that anyone who witnessed the incident contact Detective Joe Alves of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Investigative Division at 732-390-6990.
