 Man arrested after robbing pharmacy:

9/25/2007     4:30 PM
CVS 330 Rues Lane

Jason B. Brenner
East Brunswick 28

A 28 year old East Brunswick man was arrested and charged yesterday after a police investigation determined that he was responsible for the armed robbery of the CVS Pharmacy located at 330 Rues Lane. Police stated that at approximately 4:30 PM, Jason Brenner entered the pharmacy, approached the pharmacy counter and indicated he had a handgun hidden in his sweatshirt, threatening to hurt a customer if he was not obeyed. He was described by witnesses as a clean shaven white male wearing a grey sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. A store employee opened the pharmacy safe and Brenner walked around the counter, taking an undetermined amount of prescription Oxycontin pills. He then fled the store. Another employee followed the suspect and watched him enter a grey Chevy Trail Blazer. Brenner realized the employee was following him and threatened to shoot the individual if they did not go back inside the store. The employee, however, committed the license plate of the suspect vehicle to memory before retreating into the store.

When police arrived, employees and customers provided details to the officers that allowed them to track the vehicle to Jason Brenner. Police set up surveillance on Brenner’s residence and were able to pick him up as he attempted to return home. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery. He was committed to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center on $100,000 bail. Additional charges are pending the follow-up investigation. Additional details are not available at this time, pending the follow-up investigation.
