K-Mart 645 Route 18

Police are investigating a report of an individual posing as a store security officer in K-Mart, located on Route 18, searching store patrons. On Friday, 1/18/08, at approximately 5:45 PM, a 25 year old female from South River was shopping in K-Mart when she was approached by a white male in his early 30’s, approximately 6 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes, and a goatee beard. The suspect was wearing jeans, and olive green shirt and work boots. He identified himself as store security and instructed the victim to remove her coat. He then conducted a pat down search of the victim. The suspect then walked away in the store. It was later determined that the individual was not a security employee for the store.
